(2.11-005) Lifeboat Calculations for an Orbital Habitat

If an Orbital Habitat needs to be evacuated how many lifeboats does it need? Is it viable to carry as many lifeboats as would be required for a fully populate Orbital Habitat?

If the Orbital Habitat does launch its lifeboats where would they go. Are the inhabitants in reality just slightly extending the remaining time they have available?

Is making the habitat itself a series of lifeboats a viable option? If the habitat was a series of isolated compartments or segments it is possible that the evacuation procedure could consist of vacuum gaps between sections.
