There is a new _Logan's Run_ movie being made.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402344/

In the book (I read it a few weeks back), there is no Carousel, and no
Renewal. When you hit 21, you walk yourself into a Deep Sleep
facility, and die a painless death. No promise of coming back. This
was an invention of the 1976 movie, as was confining everything to one
city and raising the age to 30.

A lot of people want to change the age to 30, like the first movie
did. I've put myself on record as saying that they should either stay
as true to the book as is possible, or they should make another movie.
Here is the other movie I had in mind:

I must confess I am tired of remakes. I really would like to see some
new and interesting material.

Holiwood produces only Politically Correct turkies these days.

Of all the films produced this season, the only one I found worth
seeing is New World which is the story of Pocahontas.

no one wants to risk millions with no heads up or at least a suggestion on acceptability by the market...hence if a movie or story has been told before with acceptable market share, its considered less of a risk to copy it rather than try something new...

Supposedly, this is not so much a remake of the 1976 movie, but
another attempt to adapt the book to the screen. If so, then it will
be *much* different. For one thing, there are action sequences in the
book that an audience would eat up. Whether or not you liked the
first movie will little or no bearing on whether or not you like this
one... IF THEY FOLLOW THE BOOK. We will see.

How about a movie based on the Mack Renolds' _The Lagrangists_? Or
even a trilogy (Mack wrote two sequels, after all).
