If you are really into urban renewal here is a possible solution. Have alien invaders do the job.

Here is an interesting article concerning Woking the landing site of Wells' Martian Invasion. Last summer I visited the UK.

On the very last day I visited the town of Woking, the site where the first Martian Cylinder landed in H.G. Wells' novel the War of the Worlds. I took several photographs of the Martian War Machine monument set up to commemorate the centennial of the publication of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds in 1898. Woking has a wonderful open air market were you can get great deals on DVDs, books etc.

That is a very silly piece of film work.

And yet it is still infinately better than that horrible 2005 film.
