I maintain a website on the topic at
http://members.aol.com/oscarcombs/settle.htm. There's a FAQ, and also
some good links to other sources of information.

Try it without the period at the end.

Going to see if the E-mail software does the same thing if I put a space
between the URL and the period at the end of a sentence. My site is at

Mike, I tried it 3 ways and without the period it works right.
The link does not come to me as a live link so I have to cut and paste it
into my search bar.
When I cut it not to include the period it works. When I cut and paste it
with the period next to the m, it will not work and if you cut and paste the link
with the period separated from the m by a space but you still include the
period it will not work.
Best thing to do is to forget proper punctuation and just forget the period.
Just my suggestions.

No, at no point did I mistakenly think the period was part of the URL.
This issue is that for most people, their E-mail software helpfully
makes the URL come up as a clickable link. But unfortunately it
erroneously pulls a period at the end of a sentence into the URL. I
found by experimenting that if I leave a space at the end of the URL,
the clickable link is OK (for those of us with a clickable link).

Works for me. However I have never understood why some links come over as
live links and some not so. More do so than not but I am computer illiterate more
than most so I guess I will never understand that.

Space Settlement concepts:

You can buy used copies inexpensively, here is a link with no "." at the end:
