I think in this order:
2. tourism
3. asteroid mining
4. sps
Now tourism has the best potential for growth in my opinion, and Space X and bigelow are both close to making it a reality. We are on the cusp of having regular tourists with a private hotel and also circumlunar trips.
The question is what can we do?
A. Research CELSS (life support) for future habitats?
B. Design habitats and ships?
C. Raise money to launch on Space X to get them more business and lower future launch costs. (a cheap satellite that: finds meteroids, or films the Earth, moon, space stuff live to Earth in High Def all the time, or proves a very small scale SPS, or what?)
D. Researching SPS?
What else? I mean what can we do? I'd like to work on any of these things, but alone here in Gainesville, FL it might as well be at the bottom of the ocean. Unless we gather a working group that will actually work online together to get something happening or form a local group, which is very hard to do. What can we do?

Jack, yeah, I do all that, plus memberships and donations to NSS and the Planetary Society, etc. But it does get frustrating in the middle of the night, sitting at the keyboard, trying to come up with some new rhetoric that I haven't used on this senator, yet. And to know that even when we do get tourism going I"ll never make it up. But it's a cause I've believed in since my adolescence, and I'm damned if I'll throw in the towel now.
