Many of you may be familiar with spaceset.org (the International Space
Settlement Design Competition) which can be found here:
This competition is intended as a group project for high school students
to get them involved with and familiar with the "nuts and bolts" of
designing a space colony. I'm wondering if there are any sub-groups in
spacesettlers, or amateur groups elsewhere, who are engaged in similar
specific design activities (not necessarily for any type of
competition).
I know that there have been many studies done by professionals in
seminars and in NASA sponsored studies that detail a lot of the basic
criteria for space colony design. I'm interested in finding a group
that's engaged at a non-professional level in the detailed design of a
specific colony (preferably a first-generation "small" colony).

a group of students, sponsored by eDL , a design organzation , is engaged in
space settlement design.
They also were awarded several prizes at student design competitions from
several organizations.
