Well then, if thats really what you consider the Ultimate Resource, then you should certainly be working hard to promote space settlement if only to ensure that all the resources, special or otherwise are NOT all caught up in one basket, but are, instead, spread as widely as possible to ensure that no one cosmic accident is likely to do away with ALL of your Ultimate Resource. The known fact that catastrophic events have occurred on Earth leading to mass extinctions vs. the 'faith' that humans as a resource are so powerful as to be exempt from that threat?
