The turn at the end is adjacent to either another belt or a metal tray or slide. There is only a small gap between. Again, see the UPS Worldport documentary:

Hitman-
OK, I watched your video- Id seen it before- whats your point?? As to your question, who the hell said anything about the package getting to another belt?
Your point in all this was that the reduced or absent gravity in various extraterrestrial locales would so handicap everything from speed to friction that virtually no work will be possible. You attempted to show as proofs of this several terrestrial processes that would not easily translate to microgravity. I and virtually the entire cast of our membership in this group then attempted, by example and creative thinking, to show you that despite certain handicaps incumbent in a microgravity environment, we Humans can, have and will continue to solve those very difficulties you seemed so concerned about. As we set out to show, so did we succeed. Alas, you have once again proven yourself to be simply an argumentative and disputatious curmudgeon set in your ways and intent in shoving your questionable viewpoints down our collective throats.Time after time over the months and years, topic after topic, your strategy is always the same. You pick some nit picky thing or idea and run it into the ground, arguing loudly and vociferously for your side of the argument. Unfortunately, your side of the argument is consistently the side of incapability, futility and apathy, melancholy sentiments that I, for one, and (I believe) no one else in the group would choose to associate with the business of going to space and building Habitats to house Humanity pan Galactica. If you want to vehemently believe that the problems will ultimately overcome us and well end in failure, thats your own business, but when you choose to push, push, push your despondent zeal down my throat, it becomes mine. Please desist.

Thank you,
Victor

A robot arm picks it up from one belt and puts it on the other.

The box is held to the conveyor belt with an electromagnet, which releases it just in time to let it skid (via inertia) to the next one.

The mechanical clamp which held the box to the belt (rather than an electromagnet) lets go at just the right time.

the belts are banked when they take a curve, except where they NEED inertia to carry boxes from one belt to another.

First four that popped into my mind.

and damn good ones all, proving my point that if and when conditions in space or extraterrestrial bodies calls for creative engineering a Human will step up and solve the problem. Its what we do. Its why we are who we are and where we are with respect to being on the verge of quitting our nest and venturing forth into our true lives.
