Hah! That is cool. And why not? It could even be on a
person-by-person basis... if you actually WANT to get wet, you just
touch the appropriate icon on your smart watch (or whatever), and tell
the system that you don't mind.
Of course doing this from (say) a 100 meter height, with air currents,
would be substantially harder than this demonstration. But given a few
more decade's technology and plenty of computing power to spare, it's
hard to imagine that it would be beyond our ability.
I dig that... when it rains, it rains everywhere, except on the people.

I'm going to be that guy and point out that possibly the easiest way to
achieve this, so that it doesn't rain on the people, is to... only turn the
axial sprinklers on at night?

I know some night owls who wouldn't be too impressed with that approach.

Very few people are up and out and about at (say) 4:30 in the morning. A
quick half an hour shower at a predictable time would upset very, very few
people. Watering at night is also a more efficient way to water plants.

Yeah, I've been there. It's not quite as cool in person as it looks in
the video. But it's still pretty neat.
I'm still a fan of a ceiling that's simply painted bright white,
illuminated by cleverly hidden (and super-bright) lights that can paint
various sky-ish hues simulating sunrise, sunset, and anything in
between. The point isn't to fool anybody, but just to provide a
comfortable, outdoorsy feel.
