I can't get this to do anything. I get a big grey square, and that's

Applet.
It is a "kewl" applet. I played with it for quite a bit. It does a
nice job of visualizing the coriolis forces at work.

Me too :-)
It's fun. It gives quite surprising results really, even when you
understand the physics behind it (the projectile is just going in a
straight line, but it really doesn't look that way most of the time.)
I nearly added air drag- that would change the behaviour somewhat (makes
it a bit more earthlike I think)- but never really got around to it.
In one sense it's a bit unrealistic though- the projectile usually
travels quite fast (probably one hundred miles per hour or more), in
normal everyday experience you would only see a tiny fraction of all
this weirdness; and as I say air drag would minimise it too except for
very dense objects.
I probably should add a list of fun things to try underneath.

OK. I got it to work. If you extend the one control so that you are
throwing the ball from (nearly) ground level, set the angle to 90,
and set the speed just right, you can throw it into "orbit." I tried
to get it to go once-around and land where it started.
