I'm only familiar with the European study, although I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Japanese haven't looked at this issue too.

I read the article about the European study that
showed three location within 10 km of each other
were in sunlight 98% of the time.

Some other source indicated that the earth
in only visible 100% of the time below the
82 parallel.

I think that would make the south pole a very
interesting place to put a lunar base. Has anyone
done a similar study of the north pole?
