Mining the sea bed, like installing SSPS, only seemseasy those who have not considered the engineering and legal details.As discussed in the gas-hydrates reference above, methane is a green house gas and if released,from an impact, volcano or perhaps by global warming, could create an environmental disaster. Mining Earth threatening asteroids could also be argued to protect us from impact disasters,as mining the hydrates could also protect us. Would congress be open to even hearing this? Would George W. Bush? Where is free enterprise? I givea couple of public lecturesper month to variousgroups, and teach a university course on Colonizing Space. I don't know what else to do. Communicating with you-all is interesting; I wonder if it might help to have others of you who actually do things other than write e-mail to this group tell the rest of us about those things and if you think they help. Well, other than read up on it, think about it a lot, and send e-mail
to this (and other) places, I tell everybody who will listen about
it, show them the art, and loan out my copy of _The High Frontier_.
If they are otaku, I start with, "You know, like in _Mobile Suit
Gundum_."
I've started many projects, but seem never to finish them. My comic
book, my sitcom, my sexy novel, all unfinished. Sonetimes I
feel rather useless.

I guess I think we need to form a political action
group to get public officials interested in
space-based energy as a viable alternative. Is anyone
interested in working with me to do that?
