Message Now, let me clear this up first of all - i'm no engineer. i'm just a lowly space enthusiast who grew up with pictures of space colonies as a kid. I have one concern that i've never seen adressed anywhere: noise levels and accoustics in an Island 1-3 style structure. seeing as no one has ever built an airtight, wide open, densly habitated structure of that size before, how do we know it won't just be EXTREMELY noisy? y'know, all those people doing the usual high frontier things: having BBQs, swimming, flying microlights, making zero-g lurrve etc? cheers, Tim

I think that this is an interesting question, especially for the
smaller habitats. I can just hear the kids now:
"Hello hello lo lo o"
""HELLO"
"Hello hello lo lo o"
"Shut up! You snot-nosed brats!"
"nosed brats nosed brats brats ats ats"
I guess a sound-absorbing coating could be put on stuff, but I've
never heard it mentioned.
