That was interesting. Of course, most 'vironmentalists aren't trying
to tell people what they are *allowed* to drive, which seems to be
this guy's fixation, they are saying what they think people *should*
drive. I will never understand the way some folks aways take "people
should eat less saturated fat" and mutate that into "the food police
are trying to control me!" But again, this was interesting. One
wonders if there is some problem with the Insight, like it breaks
down a lot or something.

Xeno. I challenge you to drive a large SUV in San Francisco for awhile... Believe me, there are plenty of people who will feel it necessary to tell you what to drive - they even have arsonized SUV dealerships. However, I just thought it interesting to view the environmental rhetoric in light of the actual numbers, i.e., have them put their money and efforts where their mouths are - which they evidently are not doing. It kind of takes the wind out of a lot of their rants (or discussions - you call it). Shouldn't they all buy Insights and Motorcycles?

around with nobody but me in it. BTW, remember What Would Jesus
Drive? Jesus would've driven an SUV, 'cause He had to schlep these
twelve other guys around with Him. It's reasonable to drive one in
that case (though the roll-over hazard is something to think about).

I've heard about that. If the environmental movement wants to be
taken seriously (and as something that other want to be a part of),
they might start by doing a better job of policing their own.

I found it very interesting. If I ever buy a car, I will keep this
in mind. I'm a pretty piss-poor excuse for an environmentalist, but
I might as well take environmental factors into account. I mean, if
the Insight breaks down or has dangerously low acceleration, then no,
but if it is a good car...

Yep. And if they would, then other companies (Ford? Saturn?) would
start making them. Even hybrid SUV's might become marketable.
