Something to consider.....

It is, as always..
Nothing has changed... Look at humanity history... A land mass and or
country becomes over populated and resources become few. Two things
happen.. Either or, or both... Humans start looking outward.. thus the
crusades, the Discovery of America, and or go to war. Again the
crusades, to take from another group its land its resources..
Yes we all know this. This is not whats in question. The question is
why do governments disregard this fact that we as a species have no
future if we chose to stay Earth bound.. To quote fight club again on
this forum "on a long enough time line ever ones time goes to zero"..
that quote might not be spot on but close enough.. Sooner on later
this planet will die and us along with it if we do not find another
place(s) to live. And looks like it will be sooner than later because
like rabbits we are at 7 billion right now.. Any one who had a mating
pair of rabbits knows its not a steady growth. It multiplies and
explodes... And right now more of us are looking upward for a better
place to be yet world leaders seem uninterested in doing a damn thing
about the coming conflicts because there's no earthly frontiers to
move out to we are going to start to turn in on ourselves once
aging..OK OK OK... yeah more doom and gloom we get it... Yes its bound
to happen sooner or later the world once aging be at war, but this
most likely wont wipe us out believe it or not, or kill this planet..
This planet is harder to kill than most like us to believe.. we can
make it unfit for us to live on it. But give the Earth couple 1000
years and it will be like we were never here... This is question
"ONE", that space is an answer for... We all know question "TWO" is
the death of planet Earth... But the Third question is the BIG one...
How come our world leaders not see the writing on the wall??????
There's many answers to this question and all of them are probably all
right.. politics, race, faith, or simple dislike for another peoples
that compels our leaders to think short term and rather keep us all
stuck on earth than let another nation to claim the Moon or Mars and
so on... I personally dont think that our leaders are short sighted
I just dont think they truly understand how close the end could come..
World wide conflicts have been sparked over some very seemingly small
things... Yes yes havent forgotten about the ever shrinking crude oil
thats the life blood of our world today... Is space a place that can
give us cheap renewable energy ? ..Doesnt need to be. If theres 3
billion less people on planet Earth we have a hell of lot more time to
work out the energy equation... lets just say that the nation that
consumes the most, America just up and left to live in space.. left
the Canadians and Mexico a note feel free to move in.. That would ease
some of the energy demands on planet Earth greatly... now think two
three more 1st world nations followed.. Canadians say no thinks, think
will join you and so on... Now no nation is going to give up their
Earth side land up, but you get the idea...Is space the magic cure all
for all our ills?? hell no but its the best damn answer to come along
since the new world was discovered..The great thing is it still can be
the answer to hard questions we dont have yet..
What can we do? You and me that is to help show our leaders that we
are serious about getting into space both privet and other wise..
Has anyone thought about going voting for a pro, space candidate?
to put that before anything else? .. Oh this guy wants to raise my
taxes, undo environmental laws Im for but he/she is very pro
space..But the guy I like better is for helping the poor at the same
time reducing the size of government and protecting the environment,
but wants to cut space funding to the bone because he/she believes its
a waste.. Who should I vote for..?? Thats the question is now.. For us
at least... Can we put other things aside for what matters most to us?
What we come to realize is the real answer to our future survival..
Because we can pee pee and poo poo on our leaders about being lax
about space exploration, but are we not the ones who vote them in???
Like everything its starts with us and moves upwards we are the ones
that must make the first move. We are going to have to make a choice..
Do we want our more short terms problems solved next 10 20 years or do
we want to be tanking trips to the Moon in that time frame?? Yes it
can be done in that time frame... The tech is there, just not the
will..... ( one side note on this. In 50 to 100 years time I bet you
that migrating humans to space will do more to reducing the human
carbon footprint more than any of the best environmental tech that
would come out in that time, but we have to up the money, will, and
time into space exploration and exploitation)
Lastly .. I feel I can vote for some one I care nothing for
politically do not agree with at all save for one thing, and that
being space exploration and exploitation.. It would, to me be worth it...
Would love to hear everyones opinion on this line of thought...
