SSI Conference in Princeton, April 19-20

provides some info on the upcoming SSI Conference. Everybody be
thinking about things you can do to help support this.

Dear SSAC members--

For an outreach activity, I have been working on a concept for NSS to
promote as much as possible the upcoming Space Manufacturing Conference
in Princeton in April, sponsored by the Space Studies Institute (SSI).
Al Globus and Rick Zucker support the idea. So I'm contacting the SSI
VP Dr. Lee Valentine now to see what we may do. I think it is really
great that the Space Manufacturing Conference is coming back and NSS
would do well to participate and promote it. The SSI Conferences were
where it all happened during the beginnings of the L5 Society and more.
They lasted a long time and unfortunately ended some time ago. Now they
are back and we can now help. They also supported us with their track
at ISDC 2006. Here are some ideas about what we can do.

1. Cross-promote heavily between SSI (April 19-20, 2008) and ISDC (May
29 - June 1, 2008).
2. Generate Space Solar Alliance for Future Energy activity in support
of a first big session on SBSP at SMF 2008.
3. The AIAA SCTC might be activated on this.
4. Consider an output from the conference be a draft Space Settlement
Act of 2008.
5. Settlement Act: The purpose of NASA should include settlement, not
just exploration.
6. NSS Philadelphia chapter to provide help and coordination...Larry
Ahearn to contact them if we are go on this.
7. Strong support from Space Frontier Foundation is already in place
and we can tie in.
