Actually the main reason trip times are important are
the radiation human crews might be exposed to. A
somewhat lesser concern is the consumables that must
be carried to sustain a human crew. Finally, ROI
would be considered, but since the first two are so
much more notable than ROI, ROI should only be
considered with robotic missions, at least until a
mature manned space transportation network emerges.
