I don't have a reference handy, but I recall an
experiment done by the Russians with rats that spent
their whole lives in a centrifuge at 2g. IIRC, the
rats ended up living much longer than normal rats.
Other studies have shown that hypergravity through
centrifugation upsets the circadian rhythm in rats.

I could definitely see Olympic or professional
atheletes training at high G in order to enhance
performance at 1g, much the same as many of them train
at high altitude today.
