To all,
It amazes me that there are a lot of people who think that mankind
(or any other "advanced civilization") is doomed to extinction after
about 10,000 years. The Dinosaurs managed to survive for well over 100
million years until a rather large rock fell on their heads.
I think most scientists agree that we're smarter that the Dinosaurs
and most of the people responding to this thread seem to think that
ET's are smarter than us. I believe we (and the ET's) deserve a little
more credit than the doom-sayers are willing to give us.

P.S. Inter-stellar distances are just too great for a whole
lot of cruising around the galaxy to be taking place. This, more than
anything, is the GREAT FILTER.
