Dear Al,
I sometimes wonder that you are serious or joking.
Space settlement problems were not solved.

The problems are solved in the sense that space settlement does not require
the use of materials we presently cannot make, physics we do not yet have,
or rocket engines which we cannot yet build. Agreed, the problems are not
solved in the sense of ongoing operational experience with presently
emplaced systems. We learn by doing, and everything that was ever done had
to be done for the first time at some point.

Everytime I read this e-
group I checked out them again and again.
We don't still know how to live 2 or more years in the space.

You say 2 or more because Russians have lived for over a year on Mir. Prior
to that experience, you'd have said we still don't know how to live 6 months
or more in space. Prior to Apollo, you would've said we still don't know
how to send men to the moon. Again, we learn by doing, and there's no
reason to expect that stays of over a year won't be later beaten by 2 year
stays, then 3, then a decade, and then a lifetime.

Who
must go? Or who can go? Or who wants to go? Psychologically or
physiologically...

I'm sure this maillist alone would provide many volunteers.

Please do not say me I am this or that.
Spacism means and needs 1.000 or more people. We don't have 100
people.

We're as aware as you are of the distance between where we are, and where we
want to be. The difference is that we perceive it as a long road to be
traveled rather than as a vast, uncrossable chasm.

Please awake from your daydreams.

Every noble movement began as a dream. For myself, I only dismiss daydreams
which are contrary to our best understanding of the laws of physics. Space
settlement does not fall into that category.
