No, thats a lie. There is a class war in the USA and thats what the republican side of the propaganda BS wants everyone to think, but it simply is not true. American Society is not egalitarian, its post modern feudalism, and opportunities to advance into the ranks of the luxocrats are not available to everyone nor easy to come by. Further more the luxocrats don;t give society anything, they are vampires by nature.
There is a difference between how things ACTUALLY are and the rhetoric that people are trained to spew.
" on
> whatever scale their talents permit."
talent means next to nothing. There are literally millions of people in the USA with the talent to be a rockstar. They don't have connections with the luxocrats and so any dreams they have are almost certainly futile.
That is only one example. I sing in five octaves, play the clarinet expertly, and have perfect pitch. I sing better than the "Diva" on the Fifth element. But I don't get to get rich from that and its not because of some fault of mine, its because I'm a member of the lower caste- period.
"And yes, many people act like

No, most people don't have the ability to overcome their social conditioning and are merely puppets thus of their programming. I suspect this is particularly true of you, having spotted a pattern here.
"If you want to spend
> all your talent hunting imaginary trolls in some online video game,
> you're free to do so -- that's capitalism too."
Perfect example, they keep everyone running from distraction to distraction and vice to vice.
And nothing gets done, and we don't get into space or solve any of our social problems because those problems can;t be acknowledged as real,
and because those problems are used as wedges to maintain the caste system.

No, the problem we face now is global warming and oceanic acidification due to our use of fossil fuels.

Only large governments will have the economic power to get into space
on a realistic level. If you are counting low earth orbit still in the upper atmosphere, then you can continue to count that all you like but I don't call that space, I call that upper atmosphere and very low orbit.
No corporation on earth has the power to get to an asteroid and colonize it.
In fact, even the sum total of all of earths nations working together could not afford that right now, thanks to republicans and the caste war.

Which is you imagining things in order to create denial.

There are a few European Societies which are getting closer, but right now in the USA 60 percent of the population are emotional, intellectual, and financial pawns of the richest one percent.
