Something that should be considered in regards to terraforming...

The land area on Mars and Venus would be greatly reduced by the presence of
large oceans. Presently, the entire planet surface is theoretically
colonizable. On a terraformed Mars, that area would be cut roughly in half.
On Venus, that area would be reduced to less than 20%. Another issue would
be the impact of terraforming efforts on existing colonies. If you were
actually living on Mars, how would the idea of deliberately causing comet
collisions (ala Deep Impact, Armageddon) sound to you? In particular, what
if your colony was located in Vastitas Borealis, a place slated to become an
ocean?
