The furthest of the launched unmanned probes have reached out to
about 117 A.U. from the Sun so far; the nearest star is about 268,000
A.U. away. Put another way, if the sun were the size of a marble and
we're in San Francisco, the Earth would be 2.3 meters away, that probe
would be 250 meters away, but Proxima Centauri would be in Los Angeles.
