When thinking of mining and manufacturing it seems the basic first use of materials would be radiation sheilding.
Of course, that leaves the rest of everything to manufacture. With water as a medium there are several approaches to separate metals from minerals, butsuppose only a small supply of water forconcentrating very small quantities of metals. Several things would have to be supplied from earth for much expansion of, say a lunar robotic outpost.
Or perhaps not.

This article covers ceramic circuits using microwaves for changing ceramic structures.How difficult it might be to get some crude ceramic circuits made from lunar minerals? By this, I mean something equivalent to a circuit 1980, 4.77 MHz chip. Perhaps, even something more limited could be useful. Ceramics are generally considered rather temperature resiliant (needed for luna) and larger circuit may be more radiation resistent.
In situ solar cell (low efficiency) might be possible as well, with very little mass of refined metal content.
Wonder how much could be done with just those fourthings (regolith moving, sintering, solar, and crude semiconductors), with extremely minimalrefining of Fe, Ti and other metals?
Couldthree pilot landings giveenough proof of technology that we could do a lot more, a lot faster than most people may expect?
