A simple question

Getting to them on Earth is NOT though getting easier and cleaner, but more difficult and more environmentally destructive, which fails to even mention the waste and destruction from smelting and purifying those resources before they can be utilized. Besides, why produce goods and materials on Earth, that needs to be used in space? That becomes Massively non cost effective by the time you add in transport to get them off world to where theyre needed to build. It all becomes much easier and cost effective if you just do your mining, smelting and purifying in zero g, in a facility cut off from the one we all have to live on.
And besides, its not just the easy availability of raw resources that will draw man to settle the system, that will just provide a little extra bonus incentive. The primary reason to do it is freedom to live as you will in a group of like thinking people, without having to kowtow to every tom dick and harry in every two bit bureaucracy on Earth. The freedom to raise your children the way you want them raised without interference from some yes-man who knows nothing but how to kiss a__.
At least thats what my main incentive would be, along with a drive to explore and make a life for myself through my own labor and vision. All the kinds of things that are becoming impossible here on good old crowded planet Earth.

Why would the solar system be settled at all, while there are vastly more resources on Earth?
