I am approaching this problem from the issue of health. Unless we have a
healthy population we cannot take up difficult tasks. Unhealthy people will
also be too preoccupied with their health - and will be on the defensive -
to be able to interact properly.
The issue of health is also about to tank national economies. Imagine if we
could divert 10% of the expenditure on health to Colonization of Space!
I have been interested for the last 35 years on the issue of Posture (ever
since I came across Dr. Barlow's book when I was 25 years old): website
www.humanposture.com
Imagine my shock and surprise when I discovered only within the last one
year (having broken my head on the subject for the last 35 years), that
humans are trying to balance their bodies in an impossible way: a sure
recipe to make themselves miserable: http://headbalance.blogspot.in/
I would urge the engineers in this list to read the material in my website
www.humanposture.com and www.humanposture.blogspot.com (where I am
attempting to update information on this subject), and try to understand
this issue independently. For obvious reasons, Medical Doctors are likely
to find it difficult to understand such issues - they are also too busy
firefighting).
(Correcting the problem is not as easy as it may appear offhand, so we have
to use our wits to protect the posture of children (1) The super sandwich
model (2) The shear model
of the human body )
