Lofstrom loop enables tall buildings? ( Triple the radius of Earth to give a)

It would be an incredible waste of energy but yes, maybe they'd work.
This energy is going to come from? Also, if for any reason the
lofstrom loop machine(s) fail, down goes the megastructure and all
the people with it. *I* would not want to live in that thing.

A far better idea would be a giant orbiting ring structure
encircling the Earth at GEO orbit, like in Arthur C. Clarke's novel
"3001: The Last Odyssey". No energy wasted to keep the thing up, and
far more stable. But once again, we're left with something that is no
longer the planet Earth, but a megastructure which once was Earth.

There's no point in building such a thing.

There's other parts of the solar system with resources to build such
megastructures--without laying waste to planet Earth.
