It wouldnt hurt my feelings any. At least then it could return to its primary function as a wondrous laboratory for the creation and incubation of species until theyve matured enough to make the planet new again for the Next species and step out to the Ultimate Environment , Out where all the Ultimate Resources exist in Glorious Plentitude. Just as well have done before them, assuming that we succeed in maturing.

Fuel. Planet Earth has lots of it.

No energy wasted to keep the thing up, and far more stable. But once again, we're left with something that is no longer the planet Earth, but a megastructure which once was Earth.
Then, looking around at all the bridges, dams, canals, roads, and buildings, isn't planet Earth already a megastructure which is no longer planet Earth? If it is, then what would be essentially "lost" by building further infrastructure for additional people?

Was there any point in building the buildings that have already been built? People built tall buildings because they wanted to be close to the Ultimate Resource. Should the buildings be torn down?

Yes. They lack a crucial resource: the Ultimate Resource.

Perhaps planet Earth started out a waste, and people work to make it less of a waste. Do you want planet Earth fully depopulated of people?
