Nuke vs. SPS ( Population reduction isn't necessary for wilderness)

Nukes are a completely different technology. Go find your nearest PV
solar power station, have a look at how many people are around operating
it. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone unless they are carrying out
maintenance.

Look around your town, how many places have solar panels on the roof
supplying power to the grid, how often do you see people working on them?

There would be maintenance crews who visit the SPS when required for
maintenance purposes, but you wouldn't have someone there all the time.
Any monitoring can be done remotely. There would be no need for
habitation modules at each SPS, as the crews life support would be
provided by whatever vehicle they use to get there.

You'd have a maintenance depot station in orbit somewhere that would
house the work crews and send them out to whichever station might need
maintenance. Think of it as being like the depots and maintenance crews
used to carry out maintenance on roads, rail ways, oil and gas
pipelines, sewerage pumping stations, dams, water pipelines, power
lines, wind turbines, radio antennas, microwave transmitters etc.
