I agree, to be fully self sufficient from Earth would be much more expensive and not worth it in my opinion. (Unless you were leaving the solar system.) Why build all the factories to build a computer, or any of the many manufactured goods that Earth already produces? Keep it simple with manufacturing modules (walls and windows), food, water, fuel, solar panels, etc. in orbit and then have your mining operations to send refined ore to Earth. (And tourism, retirement, science, settlers, etc. for making money.)
