I realize that 650 MB is extremely small. It was
just to give a start such as "if you were going to
build a new civilization and could take only three
books what would they be?"
Thank you for giving me an idea of the size of the
Library of Congress. That is something that interests
me, although the Library of Congress contains a lot of
repetitious information and could be boiled down quite
a bit.
250 DVD's does not sound very large to put on a
space colony. Surely a local rental place has that
many DVD's. Would it be put on DVD's do you suppose?
Back in the early 1980's I remember seeing articles
about using materials like Lithium Niobate crystals to
hold holograms of data. What could be done right
now,today?
Thank you also for the information on the 10,000
Year Library. It sounds something like what I'm
looking for but perhaps too large.
I realize that a space colony might have a large
population and many experts but you never know, what
if there is a plague or some such disaster and the
experts are lost?
