Right. And to be clear, it's not like they published a peer-reviewed
paper on it -- this was just a tech report at a conference, which
amounts to "hey guys, look at what we're up to, isn't this weird?" I'm
sure they are as appalled as anyone at how the media picked it up and
ran with it way more than it deserved at this stage.

But I'm also sure they will continue to try to refine their results
(probably with the help of feedback from other physicists at the
conference). If there IS a real effect, they'll find it; if not,
they'll find the source of the error and move on.
