Yep. I also suspect the farms would function quite well in lower
gravity, or with less shielding (though you have to worry about your
occasional human tender in that case). This gives you quite a lot of
flexibility in where you site them in a larger colony. Or, perhaps
there will be entire agricultural colonies designed to produce massive
amounts of food, for export to other colonies. What would the design
look like then?

(I think of transport between colonies as similar to transocean
transport on Earth -- and my locally grocery store certainly has plenty
of food from China, South America, etc.)
