Yes... just to make sure we're clear, we're talking here about space
colonies -- large, rotating structures in space with an Earthlike
environment inside. Of course these have artificial gravity.

Speak for yourself, I think. I for one certainly DO feel the need; the
resources of the solar system are vastly richer than the resources of
Earth alone, and I look forward to a time when trillions of educated,
interesting people live throughout the solar system in comfort and style.

It's not about exploration. It's about settlement. (Thus the name of
the group you're posting in, "space settlers.")
