putting families aboard the Enterprise (and this is an argument I've had
on the Internet many times with people who disagree). Having a more normal
off-hours structure has got to help people from a mental health perspective
if they're going to be out for five years.
Bringing a whole city to your destination is a great way to accomplish that,
if you can pull it off. The Enterprise D does it one way, a group of space
habitats traveling together could do it another way. (I'd send more than one
btw just as a redundancy precaution. If one has a major failure, having others
around to help fix it means it isn't a huge problem.)
