What about nitrogen and phosphorus, which we need for life and are hard to
find? And is there enough energy available to be harnessed for us to build
real civilization out of all that material?

My son Kevin calculated he could make about 330,000 colonies, housing
just over a billion people, out of the material in Phobos.
Of course that's a rough calculation and assumes all mass is equal,
which isn't true, etc... but it illustrates the idea. The solar system
is really really big, and contains an awful lot of material.
