Yes, I agree that's better. Even better if you can make your filters
reflect (rather than absorb) the unwanted wavelengths.

Hmm, it might. But it might not. I suspect that similar selective
reflection could be done with plastic, but it would require very precise
manufacturing (on the same scale as wavelengths of light).
