Inferior Civilization?

This connects to the Rare Earth Hypothesis. For whatever reason
science shies away from this theory or paradigm.

And I think the reason why is obvious. Wed far rather consider a universe filled with neighbors than contemplate being alone in the cosmos. The former fills us with a quasi-religious sense of awe. The latter only makes us feel lonely.
