Science fiction triggers 'poorer reading'

One can wonder how many people were turned on or off by Isaac Asimov's
Foundation Series. I found the whole theme fascinating. In my view Isaac
Asimov definitely deserved a Nobel Prize in literature for this work.

Evidently there is a big gap between what the literary establishment
considers to be literature and the world of tomorrow driven by technology,
in which the literary establishment will have to function - very much
against their wishes, it may appear.

PS: The first book in the Foundation series was published in 1942, the
sixth in 1986. The seventh book, 'Forward the Foundation' was published
posthumously in 1993. The first four books were published between 1942 and
1953. The fifth book 'Foundation's Edge' appeared after a long gap in
1982.
