Shuttle costs

Sorry to take so long to reply, but this took some thought.
If your speaking of meeting launch dates, it's surely because of the ISS and the problems it's had. Trying to get a ISS partner's node or module up to speed or up to spec for the assigned mission is and has been a recurring issue. If your referring to actual turnaround time, its safety checks, tile and hardware replacement if needed. The last few years at least one shuttle at a time has been upgraded, which would slow that vehicles turnaround time obviously. The actual rollout is generally smooth as evidenced this month as two were brought to the pad within a week of each other. Budget cuts to the ISS has wreaked havoc on the schedule. Switching missions sure doesn't help. In my humble opinion, Dan Goldin is at fault. Since he's been NASA administrator, the budget has decreased each year he's been in the position.
His die hard attitude this year of declining any additional funding for the space agency makes me worry. Makes me worry that I might be layed off.
