I too have bought this book and highly recommend it. I bought the
second edition about two years ago and I consider the 3rd edition
well worth it even if you have a copy of the original. There is a lot
of extra information in the new chapters bringing you up to date with
current thinking along the high frontier lines.

The CD is also excellent with video footage of the man himself (Dr
O'Neill of course) and the 1975 summer studies which make a
fascinating read.

I have also followed the high frontier link highlighted by Mike. A
lot of the high frontier stuff on the web and in books is now
outdated. I would like to ask Mike - and anyone else, if now is a
good time for the re-promotion of Gerry O'Neills ideas?? Should his
ideas be updated/modified. I always think the high frontier idea has
never really got anywhere because of it's extreme ambition - let's
face it the original idea of island one is on a massive scale
requiring huge amounts of money.

I know from readings that smaller incremental ideas were studied. Are
any of these ideas worth re-incarnating with the oncoming completion
of the ISS and possibly a new generation of lanch vehicles (and
possible private involvement)?
