Risks and Space

<< At a high level, I wonder if the U.S. citizenry has stomach enough to lead
space settlement. We are so risk averse now, at least legally. In the
back of my mind I just wonder if China might ultimately lead the way into
space. They're less risk-averse than we are, and they no doubt would
welcome Lebensraum.

Ron,

I for one am willing to go ahead and learn as I go into space. I mean, there
are million things to study and it can take FOREVER to study and mutter over
every little bugs in any system. Since I am a artist, it's easy for me to
learn on the go as I paint and draw. In fact the great art (and every other
great things in life) are discovered by accident. I welcome mistakes and
work to avoid the most serious errors, and learn from them. The main problem
with all these "perfect, totally safe" flights is that there is no such thing
as perfect. Everything in life are result of chaos creating order out of
itself. I just do one art at a time, make mistakes and if it's a happy
accident, I add it to the total form and then try to repeat the accident on
purpose.

The major problem with playing it safe is that by time we have 99% safe
flight, it may be too late to push into space with resources shot to hell due
to overpopulation or such. real wealth and real success are made by reasoned
risk-taking. So, if I want to go to space, I am perfectly willing to form
partnership with any like-minded risk-takers, even the Indians or Chineses.
