Power storage is certainly a major challenge for the 14 day lunar night.

Another solution is power beaming.

A moonbase could be supplied by putting an SPS at L-1 (between Earth and
Luna) about 40,000 km from the Moon.
L1 point is unstable, so some stationkeepng will be required, perhaps by
electric propulsion and/or solar sialing.

A microwave beam from L1 to Luna is about the same distance as from GEO
to Earth. So much of the system design will be the same.

An L1 SPS bemaing power to Luna would be an excellent place to
demonstrate the utility and safety of SPS prior to beaming power to
Earth.
