The solar panels would have to be standing vertical, 90 degrees to the
surface, and rotating to
track the Sun. So the limit on collection area is how tall can we make
the solar panels on this platform ?
If we are optimistc and say 100 metres, and all the other engineering
challenges can be solved,
then the effective collection ara is 0.1 x 8 km = 0.8 square
kilometres. Not much to be excited about, and rather expensive to
construct such an array, compared to lying it flat on the lunar surface.
