Well said Sir. The only part of this I do disagree with is that Americans landed Apollo 11 on the moon, with American taxpayer dollars. I wonder how there could be any anti-American sentiment in this case given this fact. After all, this discussion about this particular date would not be an issue if two Americans did not land on the moon in July 1969. (notice the date omission).

I regret that I haven't seen any endorsement by Space Settlers of the
day you are trying to promote, though I do agree that some celebration
of Neil Armstrong's first step is something humanity should support.

However I followed your link direct to another as a result of which I
had no alternative but to e-mail their president to point out that the
Yahoo group they were promoting as number one, the Orion Project, has
got there, as largest Yahoo space group, by fighting tooth and nail to
wreck every group that gained numbers by excellence and thereby
threatened them, and has succeeded by hacking into them and destroying
them. Further, a group called,'International Understanding' was at the
bottom of their list.

The date you choose, the 20th, was not the date when Neil Armstrong
first stepped on the Moon in most places outside the Americas -
including Scotland, the country from whence his ancestors came. In
Scotland, if I recall correctly, because of time differences, he took
that first step on the 21st. It seems therefore that true
international understanding is not really something you seek.

If I am wrong, and you really are sincere, may I suggest you get in
touch, and perhaps with other groups and societies around planet
Earth, we can mutually agree on a date for celebration of this event?
This would quite possibly be the 20th, but it should be agreed
mutually, not dumped upon us willy nilly whether we like it or not.
That kind of behaviour only results in anti-Americanism planet-wide!

I am just an ordinary member of this group, but this group though
relatively small, is an internet group and thereby does have members
in many countries. Everybody on the internet isn't necessarily
American.
