The high precision microwave components, klystrons tubes , waveguides
and semiconductors,
would have to be made on Earth.
the PV or solar thermal system could be best built from luanr materials.
The interesting thing about using microwaves for GEO power relays (not
SPS)
is that all the components could probably be made economically on Earth
and
launched to GEO. Hence they could be built and launched fairly
quickly.
This might be the strongest market to justify a heavy lift launcher.
I wonder what would be the cost and weight of a microwave systm which
could beam 5 GW from
Texas to Florida or Califoronia.
