This kind of blanket statement is extremely stifling to the creative
process. What you mean to say is that you can't think of any way to
do space manufacturing without an enormous investment. I regret to
inform you that, as informed as you are, you are not all knowing.
Just because YOU can't think of a way to do space manufacturing
without a huge investment does NOT mean there IS no way.

These "shut-down" statements do more to hurt initiative rather than
to help it. I see these kinds of statements on newsgroups and
mailing lists all the time. What is the point of arguing that it
can't be done when you're posting to an advocacy group? Let's be
part of the solution, not part of the problem.
