AsterAnts versus LunarAnts

Lets review "ants" for the Moon versus NEO's:Round trip time, 1 week versus several years.Knowledge of resources, detailed (nearly 1000 pounds studied in terrestrial labs from Apollo and Luna missions) versus speculation. Volatiles, known at surface at both poles versus unknown and unlikely but maybe (hopefully) internal. Suitable location forinfrastructure, nearby (on lunar surface) versus hopefully in some cis-lunar orbit(s).Lots of NEO's doesn't make getting to one or moving it to a better orbit easier. Finding onein a convenient orbit would be great and I would support going after it, but that would not make the otherseasier to get. I thinkinvestors will chose the Moon, if they will invest in any of these space resource schemes. It might even be that taking asteroids to the Moon, after alunar infrastructure is developed, will be the how asteroids will be harvested. An accident crashing one into the Moon would be easier to insure against than crashing one into Earth. Such a crashcould make Sept. 11, '01 seem tame. Sincerely, Jay Huebner
