I am not attempting to be silly, I just like the idea of us following
O'Neill's ideas' leading us to become a dominant species in the universe
(well, assuming such hypothetical races existed, and that their version of
the Roman Empire fell like ours etc. etc.). I think that when one is considering theprospects for other technological species in this galaxy, and allows the works of Gerard O'Neill to enter one's head, one tends to come to a disquieting conclusion: Are We Alone in the Galaxy?
