I thought this ( http://www.beyond2000.com/news/Oct_01/story_1284.html )
was a very interesting article. If some substitute for gravity could be
found that would keep bones in shape, then this would lessen the
engineering requirements on future long-term space settlements. For
example, long-term habitats might not need to rotate, or if they were to
rotate, perhaps they would not need to achieve 1g.

Of course, none of this is proven yet.
